Public Comment Sought on Draft Statement on Ovarian Cancer Screening

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Exit Disclaimer (USPSTF) issued a draft statement reaffirming its recommendation against routine screening for ovarian cancer in women who are at average risk of the disease. The draft Reaffirmation Recommendation Statement Exit Disclaimer is available for comment until May 8 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Based on an evidence review Exit Disclaimer published April 10, the USPSTF concluded that routine screening with transvaginal ultrasound and testing for the serum tumor marker CA-125 does not help to reduce deaths from ovarian cancer. "There is at least moderate certainty that the harms of screening for ovarian cancer outweigh the benefits," the draft states.
Instructions on how to submit comments are available online Exit Disclaimer.
