The toll and nature of deaths due to violence against children is staggering. In 2008, more than 1,700 children ages 0 to 17 died from child abuse and neglect—80% of deaths occurred among children younger than age 4.https://www.facebook.com/#!/
Effective primary prevention efforts require many people and agencies working together toward the same goal: reducing the number of children who are harmed or die due to abuse and neglect. State health departments play a critical role in helping build safe, stable, and nurturing relationships for children so they can reach their full potential.
CDC’s VetoViolence Facebook page will be hosting a chat on this issue, including the debut of a new online toolkit, videos, and more for those working in health departments! We will also be talking about a brand-new child maltreatment prevention pledge you can take on Facebook!
You’ll also have the chance to chat live with CDC staff and child maltreatment prevention experts!
We look forward to talking with you Tuesday!
