SAMHSA Headlines: Synar Amendment Program Reduces Illegal Tobacco Sales to Minors

SAMHSA Report on the Synar Amendment program
A new SAMHSA report on the Synar Amendment program—a Federal and state partnership aimed at ending illegal tobacco sales to minors—shows that all the states and the District of Columbia have continued to meet their goals of curtailing sales of tobacco to underage youth (those under 18).
This program aims to leverage technology that will enhance and/or expand the capacity of substance abuse treatment providers to serve people who traditionally have been underserved.
The program expands availability of comprehensive, residential substance abuse treatment, prevention, and recovery support services for pregnant and postpartum women and their minor children.
