This Friday 9/21: CDC Twitter Chat with Director Tom Frieden

Dr. Tom Frieden (DrFriedenCDC) en Twitter

The events of this summer, such as wildfires, hurricanes, power outages, West Nile and floods, remind us that public health emergencies are a constant threat and can occur year round. Just as disease outbreaks, natural and man-made disasters know no season, neither does preparedness. CDC works 24/7 year round to provide resources to strengthen preparedness at the state, local, tribal and territorial levels.

Throughout September, National Preparedness Month, more than 3,000 organizations are supporting emergency preparedness efforts and encouraging Americans to take action. Personal preparedness is the most essential step the public can take to be ready for disasters. Do you know what steps to take to be prepared?

To help promote National Preparedness Month, Dr. Frieden will host a Twitter Chat to share important preparedness information and take your questions. Dr. Frieden will be joined by CDC experts Dr. Ali Khan, Director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response; Dr. Chris Portier, Director of the National Center for Environmental Health and Agency for Toxic Substances; and Dr. Georgina Peacock, a developmental pediatrician and medical officer at the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities.
