SAMHSA Headlines: 20 Percent of U.S. Adults Experienced Mental Illness in the Past Year



In the past year, 45.6 million people had mental illness according to the 2011 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH): Mental Health Findings report.
According to a NSDUH report, 26.6 percent of youth ages 12 to 20 reported drinking in the month before they were surveyed and 8.7 percent of them also purchased their own alcohol.
The new website brings together the best information the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has on the health effects of tobacco, quitting smoking, and more.
