CDC Director Frieden Opens CROI

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), opened the 20th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, March 3, 2013. In welcoming the more than 4,000 conference participants from 91 countries to the city in which CDC is headquartered, Dr. Frieden reflected on both domestic and global successes in the fight against HIV/AIDS and highlighted some areas still requiring attention including continued efforts to move science into practice, addressing disparities and focusing accountability on outcomes. AIDS.gov caught up with Dr. Frieden just after he opened the conference and he shared his thoughts about the important issue of HIV testing and linkage to care.
