Bronchiectasis is a rare disease characterized by widened airways that are chronically infected with bacteria. NIAID is seeking volunteers who have been diagnosed with or are showing signs of bronchiectasis to participate in clinical research, including a study that evaluates the safety and effectiveness of an investigational treatment. NIAID participates in the U.S. Bronchiectasis Research Registry, the world’s largest database of non-cystic fibrosis (CF) bronchiectasis patients who are willing to volunteer for studies. Clinical research promises to improve the understanding, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of bronchiectasis. Read more about the registry.
