President Obama hosted a National Conference on Mental Health at the White House to launch a national conversation to increase understanding and awareness about mental health. View video clips from the conference.
Launched by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Mentalhealth.Gov is an online resource for people looking for information about mental health. SAMHSA will release Toolkit for Community Conversations About Mental Health to support communities interested in holding discussions about mental health. The Information Brief section is available for print and electronic download.
This program is designed to support colleges and universities in suicide prevention efforts by enhancing services for at-risk students with mental and substance use disorders.
This program assists state, tribal, and community programs to build partnerships among educational, behavioral health, and criminal/juvenile justice systems to allow youth greater access to behavioral health services.
This Minority AIDS Initiative program uses new media platforms such as podcasts, blogs, social networks, and text messaging to promote discussions with racial/ethnic populations at high risk for substance abuse and HIV infection.
This program supports states and tribes in developing and implementing statewide or tribal youth suicide prevention and early intervention strategies grounded in public/private-sector collaboration.
SAMHSA is seeking solutions through cost-effective, portable, technology-based products that reach a diverse population of college students.
In fact, national surveys show that teens who believe their parents would strongly disapprove of their substance use were less likely to use substances than others.
