Dr. Carl Dieffenbach: 7th International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference Highlights Value of Treatment Cascade – Day 2

Yesterday, July 1, was the first full day of the 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment, and Prevention in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia—the world’s largest scientific conference on HIV/AIDS. This week, we’ve asked Dr. Carl Dieffenbach from NIH/NIAID, to share daily highlights from the conference via Skype.
Dr. Dieffenbach relayed that one of the themes that continues to emerge from the conference is that HIV is a chronic manageable disease and that the HIV treatment cascade (also known as the “care continuum”) serves an important metric for identifying issues and opportunities related to improving the delivery of services to people living with HIV, both on the public health policy level as well as on the front-line level in physicians’ offices. Please see his reflections, below.

For more about the HIV treatment cascade, please see our previous blog posts on this important topic.
We invite you to check back tomorrow for more reports from Dr. Dieffenbach about the exciting scientific developments being released at the IAS Conference.
