Spotlight: Performance Management Series

As part of the National Public Health Improvement Initiative funded by CDC, the New York State Department of Health Office of Public Health Practice has collaborated with the Empire State Public Health Training Center (ESPHTC) to develop the Performance Management Series.

The series uses a combination of online distance learning and instructor-led training modules designed to build the knowledge base and promote the practice of performance management and quality improvement in the public health workforce.The Performance Management Series is free, self-paced and open to the public. Laboratory Medicine Best Practices: The Quest for Quality

The Laboratory Medicine Best Practices (LMBP™) initiative was launched in 2006 to establish an evidence-based process of identifying best practices for quality improvement in the laboratory.

Two online tutorials are now available to help laboratory professionals better understand and apply the LMBP™ best practices. Both courses offer free continuing education.

The A-6 Cycle: Review and Evaluation Methods for Quality Improvement explains how LMBP™ uses the A-6 cycle methods to conduct systematic evidence reviews.
Application of Laboratory Medicine Best Practices Initiative (LMBP™) A-6 Methods for Laboratory Practitioners provides planning steps for the design and implementation of quality improvement studies that may be used in A-6 cycle methods systematic evidence reviews.
