Leisure-time Exercise Could Lower Risk of High Blood Pressure?

(Ivanhoe Newswire) – New finds that recreational exercise lowers the risk of developing high blood pressure.
Subjects involved in the study from the United States, Asia, and Europe, who did not have high blood pressure, later developed it in a range from two to 45 years.
Individuals who were physically active for at least 4 hours a week had a 19 percent decreased risk of promoting unhealthy blood pressure. The results show that the more exercise a person gets, the better chance of a healthy blood pressure.
"Hypertension is a risk factor for cardiovascular and kidney disease -- thus, it is important to prevent and control hypertension. To try to lower your risk of high blood pressure, you should exercise more in your leisure time," Dr. Wei Ma associate professor at the Shandong University School of Public Health in Jinan, China, was quoted saying.
Researchers believe exercising at work may lead to exertion due to heavy lifting and prolonged standing, but they suggest physical activity during down time.
