More Exercise Equals Better Grades?

(Ivanhoe Newswire) – A link between higher academic performance and higher amounts of daily physical activity in teenagers has been found by researchers in the UK.
Examining the records of nearly 5,000 children from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, researchers found a link between the amount of daily exercise and academic performance.  At ages 11, 13, and 15/16, researchers found the more daily moderate to intense exercise, the greater the student’s academic performance.  The link seems to be even stronger in particular with girls and science ability.
"If moderate to vigorous physical activity does influence academic attainment, this has implications for public health and education policy by providing schools and parents with a potentially important stake in meaningful and sustained increases in physical activity," study authors were quoted as saying.
