NEW RESOURCES ADDED TO THE NRD LAST WEEK The NRD is proud to observe October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Physical Therapy Month. Added to Family & Caregiver Support within Education & Scholarships: Operation Homefront - Military Child of the Year - Awarded in April of each year to outstanding military children who demonstrate resiliency, leadership and achievement. Prizes include a laptop computer and cash. Added to Massachusetts within Employment: Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services - Employment & Training - Provides Veterans with access to civilian careers and vocational training. Added to Massachusetts within Education & Training: Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services - Troops to Teachers - Provides financial assistance for qualified applicants, counseling and placement assistance for Veterans who wish to become teachers in Massachusetts. Added to Massachusetts within Benefits & Compensation: Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services - Massachusetts Veterans' Service Officers (VSOs) - Lists a directory of local VSOs throughout the state of Massachusetts. Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services - Veterans' Cemeteries - Manages the Agawam and Winchendon State Veterans' Cemeteries where eligible Veterans can be buried at no cost.
