NEW RESOURCES ADDED TO THE NRD LAST WEEK

The NRD is proud to observe October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Physical Therapy Month. Added to Military Appreciation within Other Services & Resources: Operation Paperback - Receives and distributes reading materials to overseas locations, USO centers, and military and VA hospitals through a volunteer shipping network. Added to Recreation & Sports within Other Services & Resources: Adaptive Sports Access for Wounded Warriors - Provides transportation to adaptive sports programs for wounded warriors. Added to Recreation & Sports within Other Services & Resources and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) within Health: American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) - Supports organizations providing music therapy for PTSD, TBI and other emotional and congnitive issues for Service Members, Veterans and their families. Added to Florida within Other Services & Resources: Dolphin Research Center (DRC) - Wounded Warrior Project - Offers wounded warriors and their families 3 different dolphin-interaction programs in collaboration with the Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride, Project Odyssey and Caregiver Retreat. Dolphin Research Center (DRC) - Military Program - Gives deployed Service Members and their families the opportunity to reconnect through dolphin recreational interactions. Added to Washington within Other Services & Resources: Vietnam Veteran Wives - Offers counseling and assistance with VA filings, Chapter 35 benefit filings and burial benefits. Added to Caregiver Support Groups within Family and Caregiver Support: Blue Star Families - Caregivers Empowering Caregivers - Offers resources and support for caregivers' concerns, including prioritizing their needs and setting boundaries for themselves. Also hosts Caregiver Support Workshops at locations around the country. Updated or added all the chapters of the American Red Cross for California within Other Services & Resources.
