A Community-Based Learning Collaborative (CBLC) is a 10-14 month intensive training, skill building, and structured community implementation process for Evidence Supported Treatments (ESTs). In a CBLC, professionals from several communities, including mental health treatment providers, brokers of mental health services, senior leaders and other community stakeholders, work together to build and sustain their community’s capacity to provide an EST. A CBLC combines clinical and practice training, implementation, and activities for building community collaboration and coordination in service delivery.
This workshop is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and materials needed to conduct a CBLC. Participants will learn: 1) the rationale underlying the CBLC approach; 2) the elements of the CBLC; 3) the logistics and process of a CBLC; 4) the role of collaboration in improved outcomes for children; and 4) lessons learned by the Project BEST team. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences with training and implementation, and ideas about using the CBLC approach in their communities.
