CDC - Emerging Infections Program - HAI



CDC Vital Signs. Learn vital information about stopping C. difficile infections. Read CDC Vital Signs
The Healthcare-associated infection component of the EIP engages a network
of state health departments and their academic medical center partners to help
answer critical questions about emerging HAI threats, advanced infection
tracking methods, and antibiotic resistance in the United States.
Information gathered through this activity will play a key role in shaping future
policies and recommendations targeting HAI prevention.

Healthcare-associated Infection Projects within the 

Emerging Infections Program

HAI and Antibiotic Use Prevalence Survey:
A large-scale snapshot of antibiotic use, antibiotic resistance, and all HAIs affecting hospital patients.
Improving HAI Tracking:
A series of activities to simplify or improve NHSN methods. Current project includes testing a time-saving method for CLABSI tracking.
Clostridium difficile Infection Tracking:
Determining the number of infections in the U.S. population and people at risk for infection.
Candida Bloodstream Infections:
Determining the frequency of bloodstream infections caused byCandida, tracking resistance to antifungal drugs, and identifying people at risk.
