Take Action: Today is Diabetes Alert Day!

Diabetes Alert Day
Today is American Diabetes Association Alert Day®, a one-day wake-up call to inform the American public about the seriousness of diabetes, particularly when diabetes is left undiagnosed or untreated.

The National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) is encouraging people to take the Diabetes Risk Test and know their risk for type 2 diabetes. If left undiagnosed or untreated, diabetes can lead to serious health problems including heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease, amputation, and even death.

Here are three easy ways you can take action today:

  1. Take the Diabetes Risk Test – available in English and Spanish – to know your risk for type 2 diabetes.
  2. Share the Diabetes Risk Test with your patients, friends, and family members to help them learn their risk, too.
  3. Share and retweet NDEP’s Diabetes Alert Day messages on Facebook and Twitter to help raise awareness of Diabetes Alert Day on social media.
