World Asthma Day and Asthma Awareness Month

World Asthma Day and Asthma Awareness Month

Did you know that 1 in 12 Americans have asthma?
This World Asthma Day (May 6, 2014) and Asthma Awareness Month (May 2014) the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) encourage you to discover how you can help raise awareness about asthma. So what can you do?

First, join the "Get Asthma Aware?" Thunderclap on May 6

By joining the NHLBI's "Get Asthma Aware" Thunderclap on May 6, you’re helping raise awareness about asthma.(What is Thunderclap? It’s a website that allows people to pledge to tweet or post on Facebook—all at the same time, on the same day—to maximize awareness of a cause. Think of it as an online flash mob!)
Thunderclap is an online action site where users can share the same message at the same time on social media.

Second, join the Asthma Awareness Twitter Chat

The NHLBI is partnering with U.S. News, the CDC, the Office of the Surgeon General, the American Thoracic Society, and the University of Wisconsin to hold an Asthma Awareness Twitter Chat on May 14 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT. Follow the chat—and ask questions—using the #AsthmaChat hashtag.

Together we can help control asthma.

Join the NHLBI, NAEPP and its partners in working toward this goal in May and beyond.
