Make Suicide Prevention Your Choice. Vote Today.

SAMHSA
Make Suicide Prevention Your Choice—Vote for "Suicide Prevention: What's Your Role?"
Suicide is a serious and preventable public health issue. But if we are unaware of the signs and risk factors associated with suicide, someone close to us—a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a neighbor—might be at risk for suicide. As individuals and communities, we can reduce suicide rates if everyone plays a role in suicide prevention.
That's why SAMHSA, along with other federal partners, developed the concept of "echo sites" as a way to support communities across the country with their suicide prevention efforts. An echo site is a community-organized gathering that stimulates dialogue, collaboration, and action.
The echo site initiative to promote suicide prevention has been selected as a finalist for the HHS Innovates People's Choice Award, which recognizes methods, collaborations, and creativity that will help advance HHS's and SAMSHA's mission to reduce the impact of mental illness on America's communities. Voting is open to the public to select the HHS Innovates People's Choice Award winner. Your vote for "Suicide Prevention: What’s Your Role?" will support continued efforts around suicide prevention in your community. Voting will close Friday, June 13, 2014.
