APS Draft Guidelines: We Want to Hear From You

First Public Listening Session: Wednesday, August 26, 2015 - 2:30pm ET - 3:30pm ET
Deadline for Comments: Friday, October 30, 2015
Adult Protective Services (APS) play a critical role in addressing the abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and financial exploitation too often faced by older adults and people with disabilities. ACL is committed to supporting states in developing effective APS systems that ensure adults are afforded similar protections and services, regardless of their state or jurisdiction.
As part of these efforts, last month ACL released Draft Voluntary Consensus Guidelines for State APS Systems. These draft guidelines were developed by experts in the field of APS and adult maltreatment based on the best research available on what works in APS and similar systems.
From staff, clients, and families, to those making and receiving referrals, the network of people and organizations that interact with APS is vast. If you are a part of this diverse network, we want to hear from you.
Share your feedback on the draft guidelines by calling into a listening session orsubmitting a comment by October 30. The first public listening session isWednesday, August 26 at 2:30pm ET. ACL is also hosting targeted listening sessions to hear from those working in the APS, aging, disability, and legal services networks as well as those working with tribes.
