Military medical museum reflects on lessons learned from World War II

From mobile surgical facilities to artificial kidneys to air evacuations, the lessons learned on the battlefields of World War II still pay dividends for military medicine today. Sept. 2 marked the 70th anniversary of the end of the deadliest conflict in human history with an estimated 60 million war-related casualties worldwide. At the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring, Maryland, a considerable collection of artifacts and images represents this historic period.
