Up to $6 Million Available for the 2016 National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS) Grant

The purpose of the NCCTS is to develop and maintain a collaborative network structure, support resource and policy development and dissemination, and coordinate the network’s national child trauma education and training efforts.

Up to $767,000 Available for 2016 Statewide Consumer Network Grants

The purpose of this program is to improve mental health services for people with serious mental illness. The program seeks to enhance statewide mental health consumer-run and –controlled organizations to promote service system capacity and infrastructure that is consumer-driven, recovery-focused, trauma-informed, culturally relevant, holistic, and resiliency-oriented.






Drug-Related Suicide Attempts by Middle-Aged Adults Likely To Involve Alcohol Combined With Drugs

According to the SAMHSA CBHSQ Report, an estimated 228,366 emergency department visits were for drug-related suicide attempts in 2011. Of these, middle-aged patients aged 35 to 64 accounted for 99,559 of these visits.

Report Shows the Affordable Care Act Could Provide Behavioral Health Care Coverage to 5.3 Million Low-Income, Uninsured Americans


New SAMHSA report indicates the Affordable Care Act of 2010 could provide expanded access to behavioral health care for 5.3 million low-income, uninsured people who need substance use or mental health treatment.

Veterans' Primary Substance of Abuse Is Alcohol in Treatment Admissions

SAMHSA report shows the most common primary substance of abuse among veteran admissions in non-Veterans Affairs facilities was alcohol (65.4 percent), followed by heroin (10.7 percent) and cocaine (6.2 percent).
