Global Health Protection in Action: 2015

Global health protection is not about one country, one issue, or one pathogen. From detecting and responding to infectious disease outbreaks and humanitarian crises to preventing chronic illness and injury – strengthening global health protection saves lives. In 2015, CDC’s Division of Global Health Protection worked closely with countries to provide partnership and expertise; respond to humanitarian emergencies; track diseases and outbreaks; train new disease detectives; discover new pathogens; and tackle noncommunicable diseases.

Building Better Systems in the Wake of Ebola: Countries affected by Ebola are strengthening their ability to stop infectious disease outbreaks before they become epidemics.

Antibiotic Resistance: The Global Threat: If nothing is done to stop the rise of antimicrobial resistance, we may soon lose our power to treat even common diseases.
A Commitment to Africa’s Health: In 2015, a Memorandum of Cooperation formalized efforts to create the African Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (African CDC).
A 15-Year “To-do List” for Global Health: The global UN Sustainable Development Goals will ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
