CDC 2016 World TB Day theme – End TB

World TB Day 2016: End TB

CDC Announces World TB Day 2016 Theme: End TB

Each year, we recognize World TB Day on March 24, with a variety of activities leading up to the official day.  This annual event commemorates the date Robert Koch announced his discovery of the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB).  World TB Day provides the opportunity to raise awareness about TB-related problems and solutions and to support worldwide TB-control efforts. While great strides have been made to control and cure TB, people still get sick and die from this disease in our country. Much more needs to be done to eliminate this disease.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (CDC/DTBE) joins our international partners by promoting the global Stop TB Partnership’s 2016 World TB Day theme End TB

World TB Day Resources Available:

Communication materials for use in your own 2016 World TB Day activities are now available on our website, and we will be adding additional resources in the next few weeks.  We will keep you updated on any planned activities or links to information that may be helpful, and we strongly encourage you to develop specific state or local activities and/or special messages to take advantage of the press interest that World TB Day will stimulate.

Share your World TB Day Event:

If you are planning an event around the 2016 World TB Day, we would like to know about it.  As soon as your event is planned, please download and complete the World TB Day event form on the World TB Day activities page and return it by e-mail to Molly Dowling at mdowling@cdc.gov.
