Tips for 2016

Learn how you can live a safer and healthier life:

Healthy You

  • Make healthy food choices. Grab a healthy snack.
  • Be active to improve overall health. Try simple things such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Consider mall walking if the weather is cold or icy. Be active for at least 2½ hours a week.
  • Be smokefree. If you are ready to quit, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) or 1-855-DÉJELO-YA (1-855-335-3569 for Spanish speakers) for free resources, including free quit coaching, a free quit plan, free educational materials, and referrals to other resources where you live. • Get enough sleep. Remember that sleep is a necessity, not a luxury.

Pamela's Story

Here is Pamela's story to help inspire you to get started!
My name is Pamela Williams. I joined a women's kickball league for various reasons. First, I have always loved the sport. Second, I felt it was a good way to lose weight and get a lot of exercise. Third, I felt it was a good way to relieve stress and a fun way to meet new people.
I decided last year that I wanted to get serious about my overall lifestyle when it came to healthy living. As a woman in my 40s, staying in shape is a must for me and that is why now I have a totally different mind set of healthy living. Since this journey, I have lost a total of 30lbs., and I feel great. When I see individuals who are older than me and individuals who have had health challenges being active it gives me the motivation to not use excuses to keep me from reaching my goal. I am dedicated to living a healthy life, and I am teaching my children to do the same.
