MicroRNAs (miRNAs) in Chemical-Associated Cancers
NCTR and Texas A&M University scientists published a review article in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacologydisclaimer iconon the role of miRNAs in the development and progression of chemical-associated cancers.  The authors present a review of:
  •  miRNA biogenesis and activity
  • the current evidence for miRNAs as a link between carcinogen exposure and carcinogenesis
  • the potential role for miRNAs as early indicators of carcinogen exposure, cancer development, or carcinogenic hazards
The review concludes that additional studies addressing the role of miRNAs in carcinogenesis will be needed to support claims of specific miRNAs as biomarkers of chemical-induced carcinogenesis or carcinogen exposure.
