Medical Breakthroughs: First to Know

Houston Flooding

We have an Ivanhoe crew in Houston this week doing stories so I am counting on the flooding to have gone down enough for them to get around to all their locations. Our prayers are with everyone out there including thehorses that had to swim to safety last week!
     Watch our Medical Headline Videos:
  •      “Cad Cam: Making New Teeth” is a report about a computer-aided milling machine that makes teeth out of ceramic or composite resin. Dr Mamaly Reshad, DDS, a prosthodontist at the Anacapa Dental Art Institute, says it costs about 30 percent less than a conventional procedure.
  •      “ABUS: Cancer Screening for Dense Breasts” is about using soundwaves to create 3D images that will pick up more cancers than mammograms. Dr Cynthia Litwer, MD, a breast imaging specialist at Cedars-Sinai Imaging in LA says using them together is best.
  •      “Healing Burn Scars” reports on a technique that expands the skin and helps patients to heal. It is being used very successfully by Dr Bahar Bassiri Gharb, MD, a plastic surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic.
Our first special report is “Saving Bad Hips with 3D Technology” and our second one is “Vets See the Light: Therapy for Pain and Sleep.”
In case you missed them, you may want to check our past reports, Premium Content in Archives Premium Content in ArchivesPlasma Therapy: No New Knees Needed Premium Content in ArchivesReversing Dementia: NPH. Premium Content in the Archives may be purchased for as little as $9 for 24-hour, unlimited access. If you would like to access Premium Content for the first time click here.
Finally, William Sharp, PhD, Behavioral Psychologist at Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta is using an app called iEat to treat children who won’t eat. He says they feed on praise.
And there's more where that came from...
