Summer volunteer opportunity for high school students

FDA aimHI Summer Incubator Program

Summer is short. Do stuff that matters. 
Are you a creative and collaborative high school student looking for a new challenge? Join the Office of Science & Engineering Laboratories (OSEL) in the Center for Device and Radiological Health (CDRH) at the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the aimHI Summer Incubator Program!

Overview

aimHI stands for "Accelerating Administration Information Management and Health Information for High School Students." Our goal is to grow the federal innovation and diversity pipeline by sparking high school students' interest in technology, medical devices, and entrepreneurship. Learn about OSEL/CDRH while working on a team mobile application development project. Students will work with mentors and coaches to build a prototype. The program will culminate ina Shark Tank and Demo Day.

Program Details 

aimHI is an unpaid volunteer opportunity and partnership with the Montgomery County Public Library (MCPL).
Dates: July 6- August 10, 2016
Location: FDA White Oak campus in Silver Spring, MD.
Participants will work 8 hours a day Monday-Friday.They will meet part-time at a MCPL incubator site in Montgomery County, MD, and attend field trips in the Washington, DC area. All sites are accessible via public transportation. 

Eligibility

aimHI is open to high school students between 10th-12th grades. No prior skills or experience needed, just an interest to learn and a willingness to work hard. Students must be eligible to work in the U.S. and have proof of health insurance. Selected participants must be available for the full duration of the program, and willing to travel locally to program sites and field trips.
