Medical Breakthroughs: First to Know

Thank you, Norm Taylor!

Way back in the early 80s my friend and business partner, Bette BonFleur, read a classified ad that offered a free polo clinic right here in Orlando put on by a man named Norm Taylor who believed polo should be for the masses. Bless his heart, I got hooked, my husband got hooked and my sister got hooked and it’s all because Norm let us play on his horses for free. Last week, Norm was 96 and I still love talking to him about our mutual passion, polo.
     Watch our Medical Headline Videos:
  •      “Map the Heart: Stop Afib” is about a new way to diagnose atrial fibrillation. Dr Jeffrey Goldberger, Chief of Cardiology at University of Miami Hospital, says “15 percent of all strokes are related to afib” and now there is sophisticated software to precisely target the ablation. He thinks it might have a 90 percent success rate.
  •      “Atranil for IBS” offers new research about an accumulation of bacteria in the small intestine that may be the cause of irritable bowel syndrome. Dr Kenneth Brown, MD, gastroenterologist and chief medical officer for Atranil, developed Atranil himself to attack the hard-to-reach bacteria. It is available without a prescription.
  •      “FMD: Mysterious Disease in Women” is often overlooked because patients and their doctors have a hard time identifying the symptoms. Dr Heather Gornik, MD, vascular medicine physician at Cleveland Clinic, has started a registry to track patients with FMD.
For our three special reports this week, we have “Happy Tails.” You have to watch the video for this series because it has wolfdogsdogs who have been given a voice, and dogs who are swimming for rehab ... it is wonderful!

“There is a really deep well inside of me. And in it dwells God. Sometimes I am there, too. But more often stones and grit block the well, and God is buried beneath. Then he must be dug out again.”
