Special Topics in Cancer

CDC provides information about a variety of cancer topics.
  • HPV and Cancer: Human papillomavirus (HPV) has been found to be associated with several kinds of cancer: cervical, vulvar, vaginal, penile, anal, and oropharyngeal (back of the throat, including the base of the tongue and tonsils).
  • International Cancer Control: CDC is working with partners to help coordinate cancer prevention and control programs globally and reduce the cancer burden in low- and middle- income countries.
  • Preventing Infections in Cancer Patients: People receiving chemotherapy are at risk for developing an infection when their white blood cell count is low.
  • Cancer, the Flu, and You: If you have cancer now or have had cancer in the past, you are at higher risk for complications from the seasonal flu or influenza, including hospitalization and death.
  • Health Disparities in Cancer: CDC monitors trends and patterns in cancer incidence and mortality and identifies which populations are disproportionately affected by the disease.
  • Cancer Survivorship: As the number of cancer survivors grows, CDC is working with partner organizations to help survivors, along with the people in their lives, throughout their cancer experience.
