Let's Celebrate the OWH Staff

It's hard to believe that OWH has been around for only 25 years, especially when you consider all the progress that has been made in women's health — from the Violence Against Women Act to more effective birth control options to improved access to affordable, quality health care. We've talked a lot about these achievements, but not enough about the people who make our success possible. As we celebrate this milestone in women's health, I want to take a moment to recognize the OWH staff, because they've played a big role in helping us get here.
OWH 25th AnniversaryEach member of the OWH team cares deeply about women's and girls' health, and I want to use this post to give them a voice. In their own words, here's what some of them have to say about OWH and why it's important, what they've learned along the way, and what they hope to see over the next 25 years in women's health.
During my time at OWH, I've learned that women's health is as varied as women themselves. There is no "one size fits all." It's complicated, and there's no ONE solution. –Ann
OWH has nearly 1 million followers on ourwomen's health Twitter channel, and it's important that we have an easily accessible way to communicate directly to women about their daily health concerns and how they can be healthier. –Brooke
Women have unique health care needs, and they need a champion. At OWH, we ensure women's health is included in programmatic, policy, and communications decisions across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. –Stephen
I enjoy working with other colleagues who are also invested in improving the lives of women and girls, and I look forward to seeing OWH lead the way for federal partners, community groups, and stakeholders to help them understand the most pressing issues impacting women and girls and change outcomes for better health. –Marty
In the next 25 years, I see OWH being recognized across the country as the key agency for educational activities and partnerships that improve the health of women and girls. –Adrienne
OWH reminds the rest of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services — and the world — that women's health is important and KEY to the success of the nation. –Valerie
I hope to see in the next 25 years a growing appreciation for the need of women's health to be a priority within families and communities. –Beth
I feel so fortunate to work with such hardworking and dedicated individuals, and I look forward to kicking off the next 25 years in women's and girls' health with them. Here's to the OWH staff, and here's to you and your health! For the latest on our anniversary celebration, follow us on Twitter @womenshealth.
