Welcome to a new year. Are you ready to set your resolutions for this year? How about starting by learning more about the international Understanding Small Enterprises (USE) Conference, which is being held in the U.S. for the first time this coming October 25-27, 2017. NIOSH is collaborating with the Center for Health, Work & Environment at the Colorado School of Public Health to host USE 2017.
Small business owners, researchers, public health professionals, and students from around the world will come together in Denver to discuss the unique needs of small businesses and share strategies for cultivating healthy work environments.
The conference’s theme is “Worker Well-being and Sustainable Business Health: From Ideas to Achievable Reality.” Topics for sessions and workshops include:
  • Occupational Safety, Health, and Well-being
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • The Business Case – A safe workplace is a productive workplace
  • Public–Private Partnerships
Check out the schedule and speakers on the conference website. We are excited about the program and the opportunity to carry on the great tradition set by the previous conference hosts in The Netherlands, New Zealand, and Denmark.
We are still accepting abstracts (the deadline is January 15).
This year, make a few of your resolutions work-related.  This conference will help you fulfill them.  We’ve provided a few suggestions below to help get you started:
  • Learn about the latest research on safety and health in small businesses
  • Network with industry experts from across the globe
  • Get in-depth training on how to bring safety and wellness to work
  • Build lasting connections in the small business safety and health community
  • Most importantly – Share your research, innovation, or best practice!
We promise that these resolutions will be much more fulfilling than losing those stubborn 5 pounds and help you improve your workplace in the process.
Happy New Year, and we’ll see you in Denver!
