National Kidney Month 2017

March is National Kidney Month, a time to raise awareness about kidney disease. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of kidney disease, you are at a higher risk of developing the disease. For information on lowering your risk, visit NIDDK’s recently updated chronic kidney disease (CKD) health information. Health information is also available in Spanish.

Dr. Griffin Rodgers

NIDDK in the News

NIDDK’s 2017 National Kidney Month theme is “In the Know: African Americans and Kidney Disease”. You can listen to one of Dr. Rodgers’ conversations with radio stations around the country about kidney health in the African American community. NIDDK Director Dr. Griffin Rodgers also talks about kidney disease and its connection to diabetes and obesity in his recent article in The Nation’s Health.

Kidney Sundays

Talk with Your Faith Community

People turn to their places of worship to get accurate, useful information about issues that make a difference in their community. Be the one to raise awareness about the risks for kidney disease and the importance of getting tested. NIDDK’s National Kidney Disease Education Program (NKDEP) has information to help you plan a Kidney Sundays event today.
Kidney Sundays is a partnership of the NIDDK and Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. This year, the program also partnered with the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS).
