Data on human genomes is becoming more and more available, raising questions about patient privacy and inappropriate data sharing. While it is possible to move genomic data analysis to the cloud maintaining sufficient protection of patient privacy and scalability of the computation, greater efficiency in terms of compute time and memory utilization is needed before these systems are sufficiently practical for real world environments.
