back pain

Static or permanent magnets are widely marketed for pain control including foot and back pain from conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia. They’re sold in products such as shoe insoles, bracelets, mattress pads, and bandages, but they have not been proven to work for any health-related purpose.

Magnets are generally considered safe when applied to the skin. Magnets may not be safe for some people, however, such as those who use pacemakers or insulin pumps. Magnets may interfere with those devices. Tell all your health care providers about any complementary health approaches you use to ensure coordinated and safe care.
