Featured article: Dominant bacterial phyla in caves and their predicted functional roles in C and N cycle

New Content Item
Bacteria constitute the major portion of the cave biodiversity and play a key role in maintaining the cave ecosystem. Bacteria present in caves often survive by modifying their metabolic pathway or other mechanism. The present study utilised Illumina sequencing along with bioinformatics analysis to reveal the essential ecological role of cave bacterial communities in India. These results will be useful in documenting the biospeleology of this region and the systematic understanding of bacterial communities in natural sediment environments as well.
