12th Annual ICORD Conference and 6th China Rare Disease Summit
The 12th Annual ICORD Conference and the 6th China Rare Disease Summit will be held in Beijing, China, on September 7~10, 2017, which is organized by the International Conference on Rare Disease and Orphan Drugs (ICORD), Chinese Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD) and Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH). 
    ICORD is an international society for all individuals actively involved in rare diseases and/or orphan drugs, including health care, research, academic, industry, patient organizations, regulatory authorities, and public policy professionals. The ICORD annual meetings have been successfully arranged eleven times all over the world since 2005 and effectively promoted the global collaboration in related field.     The China Rare Disease Summit was initiated in 2012 which has been the most comprehensive and the largest event in China Rare Disease area. The Summit has focused on hot topics in China rare disease therapeutics and drug development, cutting-edge technologies in gene diagnostics, healthcare policies and insurance for rare diseases, as well as healthcare related key issues. 
    It will be the first time for the ICORD annual conference together with China Rare Disease Summit to be held in China, with the theme of "Rare Diseases, Global Challenges and China’s Role" and around seven issues, including clinical care and research, precision medicine, orphan drugs and translational medicine, rare diseases patient registry, rare disease related policies, patient organizations and global collaboration. Attendees from China and global academic and research institutions, governments, hospitals, pharmaceutical industries, regulatory agencies, healthcare associations, and patient groups will be invited, and it is expected that more than 700 attendees will participate in this year's event.
    This conference will provide an important platform for information exchange and communication for rare diseases around the world with the aim to facilitate communication and collaboration via knowledge sharing to foster innovation for rare disease research and development as well as to improve the level of health and well-being for rare disease patients worldwide.
