Study: Campylobacter Outbreaks Double from 2004-2012





Campylobacter infections, outbreaks and antibiotic resistance increased from 2004 through 2012 according to a recent CDC study published in the journal Clinical Infectious Disease. Campylobacteroutbreaks doubled from about 28 outbreaks each year to 56 during this period, and the number of new Campylobacter infections increased 21%. Campylobacter is the leading cause of foodborne infections in the United States, affecting more than 1.3 million people each year.
