Check out new data on the prevalence of active epilepsy in your state and an opportunity to share your thoughts on national health objectives.
SPOTLIGHT: NEW STATE DATA!
A new CDC study found that in 2015, 3.4 million people – about 3 million adults and 470,000 children – had active epilepsy (either under treatment or with recent seizures). For the first time, state prevalence estimates are available for all states and the District of Columbia. The estimated number of people with epilepsy ranged from 5,900 in Wyoming to 427,700 in California.
Epilepsy groups, policy makers, researchers, and health care providers can use this information to make sure programs meet the needs of people with epilepsy.

 | Share What You Think: New Healthy People Framework
We’ve made progress! New data shows the Healthy People 2020 epilepsy target has been met (the proportion of people aged 18 years or older with epilepsy and uncontrolled seizures who received appropriate medical care).
The proposed Healthy People 2030 framework has been released that will set goals for 2020-2030. Members of the public—including individuals and organizations—are invited to provide comments on this version until September 29, 2017 at 5:00p.m. ET.
