Did you know that chronic pain (often defined as pain that lasts more than 12 weeks) is an important public health problem, affecting about 100 million American adults? Some complementary approaches show promise for helping to manage chronic pain. For example, acupuncture and tai chi may help people manage pain from osteoarthritis of the knee, and relaxation techniques may be helpful for severe headaches and migraine.
