Malaria is on the rise in the United States, with 1,724 cases reported in 2014—the fourth highest number of cases since 1973. Many people visiting friends and relatives in regions with malaria don’t use appropriate prevention measures. CDC is available to assist health professionals with the diagnosis and confirmation of malaria.
