​This week in MMWR, CDC updated a previous report on the fifth epidemic of novel Asian lineage avian influenza virus A(H7N9) in China during October 2016 through early August 2017. The number of human infections reported in the fifth epidemic is almost as many as were reported during the previ­ous four epidemics combined.
