Induced acute lung injury via hydrochloric acid aspiration to rabbits leads to lung hemorrhage, swelling of alveolar epithelial cells, a decrease in PaO2, and other respiratory impairments.  Activating parasympathetic activity via vagus nerve stimulation, tetrahydroaminoacridine, and stellate ganglion block ameliorates these damaging effects.
