  • Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis rates—as well as the number of babies born with syphilis—all increased for a third year, according to CDC’s new Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Surveillance Report.
  • STDs can happen to anyone who is sexually active, but the most affected groups remain gay and bisexual men, pregnant women, and young people aged 15–24. 
  • Public health professionals can promote STD prevention by using and sharing new CDC resources, including fact sheets, sample posts for Twitter and Facebook, social media graphics, and a customizable infographic.
