This webinar will focus on ADEs associated withanticoagulants and opioids. During this session, you can expect to:
  • Hear from national-level subject matter experts and thought leaders about the prevalence of and cost of these adverse drug events 
  • Identify measures that can help hospital and physician leaders secure the support and resources to begin driving improvements
Speakers for this session include:
  • Nadine Shehab, PharmD, MPH, of the CDC’s Medication Safety Program, will frame the session by revisiting data that highlight the prevalence of ADEs and their cost to hospitals, as well as discuss the challenges that hospitals face in measuring and reporting ADEs.
  • Scott Kaatz, DO, MSc, FACP, SFHM, Medical Director for Professional Development and Research in the Division of Hospital Medicine and Senior Staff Hospitalist, at the Henry Ford Health System (Michigan HIIN), will focus on ADEs associated with anticoagulant use, particularly their importance and preventability as well as considerations regarding the meaningful measurement of this ADE.
  • Paul Conlon, PharmD, JD, Senior Vice President for Clinical Quality and Patient Safety at Trinity Health (Michigan HIIN), will focus on opioid-related ADEs by discussing the impact of the opioid epidemic on hospitals, as well as prevention of these ADEs and recommendations related to meaningful measures.
